Angled Doors for Sloping Ceilings

Shower door design for rooms with sloping ceilings is dictated not only by the customer's desire or otherwise for framing profiles, but also by the shape of the aperture and the condition of the supporting walls.

The 1900 x 900mm angled hinged door in clear glass shown below features spring tensioned hinges and wall-compensating profiles on the lower or short wall side. The shower tray is of a low level access, white enamelled steel design which has significant advantages for timber flooring and low ceilings. Just as importantly its' non-slip surface and extremely shallow 20mm height are particularly suitable features for the less able.

Obscure glass, shown in the white, part framed, 1800 x 760mm angled door opposite, is adequate in providing modesty but not so opaque as to darken the showering area.

Matching colour hinges, door knob and wall compensating profiles are available in three finishes - white powder coat, polished 'chrome' and polished 'gold' effect.

Integral full height magnetic door seals provide positive door closing and excellent water retention whilst the wall profiles accommodate an out of plumb wall condition. Where necessary width adjusting profiles can be supplied to the taller, hinged side of the angled door for situations in which stud walls are unable to support the full weight of the hinge connections. The weight is then transmitted mostly through to the tray with a graduated door load spread over the full height of the wall frame profiles. Both of the above styles can incorporate fully angled in-line panels for the wider tray.

The fully framed bi-fold door and angled in-line panel illustrated above, provides a solution for a 1200mm shower tray in which the width, height and angle of the slope permit a standard rectangular door to be used. The advantage of this system is a fully pre-assembled, framed door and generous width adjusting profiles to both sides.
